Installing WellSim on another PC

This describes how to install WellSim on a PC:

• If you are adding a PC to a WellSim installation, either when you are setting the system up for the first time or sometime later.
• If you are replacing a PC in an existing WellSim installation.

These instructions are general; if they don't cover your setup or if your system uses Remote Desktop please consult your IT department or GSDS.

Before you start

• You will use the same registration name and key as other PCs in your setup.

• If you haven't yet installed WellSim on your PC, ensure you have the programs required:

  1. The runtime library: GSDS_Runtimes_3_3.exe.
  2. The latest version of WellSim: GSDS_wellsim_n_n_n_n.msi.

  If you don't have these download them from here.

• If you are adding a PC to a setup already running WellSim:

  1. Have available any settings and databases for the new PC.
  2. If necessary, purchase a licence from GSDS for the new PC and receive any new dongle required.

• If you are replacing a PC now running WellSim, on the old PC:

  1. If necessary, save any of its settings and databases for the new PC.
  2. Uninstall WellSim

  You will install the dongle from the old PC on the new PC.

Installing WellSim on another PC

1. If you haven't yet installed a dongle on the PC, do it now: either a single-user dongle or a network dongle.

2. If you haven't yet installed the programs, run the two install programs in this order:

   • The runtime library: GSDS_Runtimes_3_3.exe.
   • The latest version of WellSim: GSDS_wellsim_n_n_n_n.msi.

3. Installing WellSim creates a desktop shortcut. Start WellSim.

4. Use your registration name and key to register WellSim.

5. In WellSim, open the database manager and add any existing databases.
